Cannot create macro error in Word 2000

I teach an online class. One of the lessons teaches
students how to create macros in Word. One of my studnets
gets a message saying "Cannot create macro" when she
clicks the Keyboard button on the Record Macro dialog box.
She is using Word 2000. I've advised her to lower the
security level, but I know there is something else she
needs to do too. I've had to lend my laptop with Word 2000
on it to a friend, so I cannot test this out. Can anyone
help? Thank you.

Probably due to a corrupt Normal.dot since that's where the Keyboard
shortcut would be stored by default.

Locate Normal.dot and rename it to OldNormal.dot. Word will create a
new one upon starting.

If this resolves the problem, any customizations can be copied to the
new Normal.dot via the Organizer (Tools/Templates and Add-Ins) Once
this is complete OldNormal.dot can be discarded. If the problem still
exists then you can delete the new Normal.dot and rename your
OldNormal.dot to Normal.dot.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
