Cannot create macros in Word 2004

Hi All,

Trying to get my head around a problem with Word 2004 and creating
macros. User is trying to add macros for changing text alignment and
such but when he tries to Record New Macro gets an error message that
"Macro cannot be created". He is able to create macros in Excel on the
same machine though.

I have updated Office to v11.3.4 but still having the same issue. I
have also deleted the Normal template and Word has created a new one
but the problem still exists.

Any hints on resolving this issue will be most appreciated! :D

Cheers

Hello Icky,
You have ask for hints, so my ideas are, however, dunno if solve your problem:

*can you open VBA? Tools>macros>visual basic
If so what do you see in *projects* left top window

*How about permitions issue. What permitions are set to MUD (documents>MS
user data) and Template folder (aplication>office) - could have been the
permitions by accident changed?

But keep checking, I'm sure John has a lot of ideas:)

Is the user putting spaces in the Macro name? If not:

Suggestion - Apply the 11.3.5 Updater for Office, Repair Disk Permissions
and see if that resolves the issue.

Otherwise you might try creating a new user account on that system & see if
the problem occurs in the new account.

Also, when does this message appear: immediately on selecting the Record New
Macro command, when the naming dialog appears, after clicking OK, etc.?

Will try this update also. Have run "Repair Disk Permissions"
previously but it doesn't hurt to try again.

After clicking OK on the new macro dialog box.

Thanks for the suggestions, Bob - much appreciated.

Hi All,

Looks like the problem was resolved. I uninstalled MS Office 2004,
reinstalled with the REALBasic option and tested the ability to create
new macros and all was available.

Thanks to little_creature and Bob (Cyber Taz) for their most helpful
suggestions.

Cheers
Icky
