Cannot delete background in emails

I am experiencing a small but annoying problem with my MS Outlook.
Currently, any email I send from Outlook has squares in the background. This
background is very faint in my display but shows up clearer in the receivers
inbox.

I have been into the menu (Format / Background / Picture) and selected
"Blank Bkgrd" but the squares still appear in my emails.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
