Cannot Delete Contacts

I am trying to clean out a contacts folder that was
apparently corrupted by a virus recently. I have a new
folder that is working fine. When I try to delet the
contents of the old folder it comes up with an error
message that "Errors have been detected in the Outlook.pst
file" and says to shut down outlook and use the inbox
repari tool. When I do this the inbox repair tool does
not find any errors and when I return to Outlook I still
cannot delete the contacts.
