cannot delete day old calendar events

when we add an event to the calendar and then when we go back to delete the event either the next day or a week later, it doesn't give us the option to delete the event.

Have you tried highlighting it and hitting Delete on your keyboard?

Are you online at the time? You can only alter some items when you have
a live Exchange connection.

What happens if you double-click to open the event and then click the
Delete button?

If you right-click an event or if you select an event and choose Edit
--> Delete, can you delete it? Are all options unavailable?
