Cannot delete file

I have a MS Word file on my desktop that I can't delete. If I try to open it
I get an error message that reads "This file could not be found". When I try
to delete it, I get an error message that reads "Cannot delete file: Cannot
read from the sorce file or disk". This file originated as an attachment to
an email from my boss. I saved the attachment into a folder and changed the
name. After I had done this the file appeared on my desktop with its original
name that my boss had given it. When I right click on it and go to
properties, it showss its location as on my desktop, and it shows its size to
be 0 bytes. How can I either delete it, or get it to link to the renamed file
so I can get it off of my desktop?

This is my first time using a discussion group, but no luck with a single
freakin reply from any of you. What did I do, or not do, to not get a single
reply? I hope next time any of you need help with something you have better
luck than I did with this.

This isn't a Word question: that it is a Word file is not relevant. Please
repost this to a relevant WINDOWS newsgroup.

Although my expertise is with Office, my guess is that the file only seems
to be on the desktop and doesn't actually exist. The Windows guys will tell
you what to do though.

Well, I thought it was a Word question, sorry for wasting your time. I'll see
if a Windows newsgroup can help.

I won't bother you again
