Cannot Delete or Display email in Unread Mail folder

Hi
I have Outlook 2007 running on XP. I have an email in the Unread Mail folder
which can neither be displayed (the message "This item cannot be displayed in
the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents" appears) or deleted.
The underlying email has long been deleted but it is still hanging around in
the Unread Mail folder.

I have tried adding a new profile and swapping over to that and reindexing,
neither works.

It's very annoying, any suggestions?
