Cannot delete "Remote Item Header" items from my i

I am using Outlook 2003 and connect to POP and MS Enterprise servers.
I do not use IMAP. One one download offsite, I received a number o
items in my inbox. When I try to delete them they change t
strike-through but are still listed in my inbox. I do not have th
PURGE option in the Edit menu since I am not using IMAP. The actua
email messages no longer exist on the server

Any operation on these headers results in a display box titled REMOT
ITEM HEADER: This item has not been retrieved from the server. Do yo
want to:
o-Unmark this header item,
o-Mark to download this message,
o-Mark to download this message and leave a copy on the server,
o-Mark to delete this message from the server

Outlook refuses to delete these erroneous headers. It just marks the
for deletion on the server, which can never happen

How can I get these phantom headers to go away permanently

Thanks for your hel

Bring up you send/receive settings (ctrl + alt + s) and peruse any groups
you might have to see if the POP account is configured to download headers
only.

ps - by the way, the pop account isn't checking the same mailbox as your
exchange account is it?

I did not see any of the accounts set tretrieve headers only
I believe it may have been a manual selection un der the Send/Receiv
menu.

I any case, the mail items are no longer on the server. How do
removed the "orphaned" items in my inbox
