I have a user who is unable to delete single messages from her inbox in
Outlook 2003. The way we have it set up is with a single IMAP account. She
then has a rule to move a copy of all messages into the default Outlook
"Personal Folders" inbox (this is so that she can have the functionality of
the deleted items folder, sent items folder, etc.) She then does all of her
work from that Inbox. Well she is unable to delete just one message at a
time. Clicking the delete key does nothing and the delete option is grayed
out on the right-click menu. However, if she highlights more than one
message, the delete button and the right click menu work just fine.
I have tried detect and repair and then completely re-installing office. It
is completely up-to-date per officeupdate.microsoft.com. I have run the
scanpst.exe tool on all of the PST files on the computer and in fact I have
run it multiple times on the PST I believe to be associated with this inbox.
But none of these things seem to fix the problem. This is really weird. It
only occurs for one user and it started after I reinstalled windows & office
on her computer and then imported her PST files.
I dug around google for many hours and the only thing I could come up with
was to delete the FRMCACHE file, which I did and it did not work. Does
anyone have any insight? Help! This is driving us crazy!
