Cannot delete some contacts in Outlook 2007

When I try to delete some contacts in Outlook I get error message "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists
restart outlook".
The problem continues to persist regardless of restarting Outlook

Did this just start or has it always happened? In what interface are you
working when you try to delete Contacts and with what type of information
store?
