Cannot delete 'unpublished' project

I have inherited an instance of Project Server with a 'phantom'
project that haunts PWA users.

Under Projects > Manage Administrative Projects, attempts to modify
will return this error message: 'Project Server was unable to find the
specified project. Check the project name and version.'

Under Admin > Clean up Project Server database, the project's version
field is blank. If I try to delete the project, I get this error
message: 'An error occurred while completing the operation.'

The .published version of the project was deleted before my time.
Still, resources can report actuals to the project.

How can I delete the 'phantom' project?

Thanks,

Apupoika

Have you tried using the PSCleaner utility that comes with this>? I've had
luck deleting there -- but beware if you've never used it before - make sure
only the projects you want to delete are selected.

Hi Erin,

Thanks for your reply. PSCleaner can't locate the project nor can I
open it with Project Professional.

I see the project under 'Projects > Manage Administrative Projects' and
under 'Admin > Clean Up Project Server Database.'

Resources who have been assigned to the project can see it on the Tasks
page. They can report hours to it like any to any other project. If
they do, the project shows up normally under Resources and Updates.

What makes it different from other projects is that (a) it has no
version, i.e. it is not .published nor anything defined by the
organization; (b) PWA won't delete it and PSCleaner won't even retrieve
it, and; (c) I haven't been able to figure out a way to open it with
Project Professional.

The published version was deleted so long ago that a backup is no
longer available.
