Cannot download .exe files

When I click on a link to an .exe file in I.E 6, nothing
happens.

Other files can be downloaded from I.E. 6 on my computer

Other computers on the network can download .exe files.

I have tried various security settings in I.E. 6 and
Windows XP - Nothing helps.

Can anyone help me?
