cannot edit visio diagram

I have a visio drawing that when I open it I cannot edit it. I mean I cannot
select or change any of the existing stencils or icons. I can add to it but
cannot delete or modify

any idea?

First thing to try:
menu Edit -> Select All
Format -> Protection - From Selection - set to off
Format -> Behavior - Selection Highlighting - set to ticked
