Cannot edit word documents or access Word Options tab

D

Daniel Pettengell

I am experiencing a similiar problem to the one described below. When Word
opens I can create a new document and enter text however cannot select the
text with the mouse however the select all works from the menu option. Also
unable to select any of the tabs in the Word Options and when Word is
closed it comes up with the message "Word has stopped working"and then
restarts.

Word had been working fine until the most recent set of office updates in
mid July which caused this problem to occur. The other Office modules are
working ok and are activated. I have reinstalled office a number of times
and performed the office repair but it has made no difference. Is there
another way to verify if Word is activated or access the Word options. Other
possible suggestions??

Regards
Daniel

What date and title was this post on? I have been trying to get on this site
for two days and it kept freezing on me and I couldn't get it. I do not have
a trial version and have activated my program and tried repair and uninstall
and reinstall as well and nothing.

Thanks so much. You don't know how much better I felt reading this because
my IT guys at work were clue less! Never heard this happening before. Sorry
Daniel but nice to know I am not alone ;-)

It also may help to know that if I sign in as administrator word works fine.
I only use my administrator account for installing software. I use my user
account for everything else and that is the one that is giving me problems.
Why would that matter who I was under? Thanks for all your help "in advance"
with this issue.

Never mind. Found it. Too early in the a.m. for me. I will try this but not
sure how to do what you are saying regarding deleting the Word DataKey. I
will check with IT at work. They can let me know.

Thanks again. Jackie
