Cannot eliminated one message in Deleted Elements folder

D

Denis Marchand

When I try to completely eliminate one particular message in the "deleted
Items" folder, Entourage hangs. If I check what's going on with Activity
Monitor I see that Microsoft Daemon database is not responding. I have to
force quit Entourage. I have rebuilt the Database, permissions, etc...
Nothing fixes it. Entourage 2008 latest version on Intel MacBook Pro running
latest Leopard version. Thanks fo any help.

This is a typical symptom of database corruption. How to rebuild:

For IMAP and Exchange accounts it's best to create a new account than to try
rebuilding.

Thank you.

I have rebuilt the database but that didn't fix the problem. In fact if I
just verify te integrity of the database, it reports that the database is
fine.

I have both a POP account and an Exchange account active.

The reported problem is with the Exchange account only; I can delete
messages in the POP account.

How should I proceed?

You need to start with a new Identity. Rebuilding Exchange accounts are
difficult and when synced back up to the server can leave you with a mess.
As if there is a backup of your Identity prior to rebuilding.

You'll have to export your pop mail and other data. Using the Entourage
archive (.rge) file is the easiest and quickest way.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

Hi Denis!

Try turning off the Preview pane under the View menu. Then select your
message and try deleting it. If that doesn't work then post back and I
can point you to an AppleScript that has also worked to delete stubborn
messages.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info.
I exported my data and built a new identity and it seems to work OK now.
But I will not forget the fix that you suggested below.

I have it here:

<http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage/msg/ee5eaab3b27f3aa0>
or <http://tinyurl.com/8r8b8a>.

While it says "theTask" it can apply to just about any object in Entourage.

Hope this helps!
