Cannot enter email address for new Contact

Hello all:

I deleted a contact some time ago, and now need to reenter as a new contact.
However, when I enter this persons email address (now different from the old
one), Contacts suggests the old email address which I thought would have been
deleted ( I have deleted it from the TO: line several times. Secondly, when I
enter the current correct email, as soon as I tab away from the entry box, a
different, and even older, email address replaces the one I just typed. I am
now fumbling with 3 email addresses. 1. The one that is Suggested as I type
the new address, 2. The New address, and 3. The really old address that is
AUTOMATICALLY inserted when I tab away from the entry box.

Anyone know whats up ?

Thanks........ jeff

Apparently you failed to delete the appropriate entries from your
autocompletion cache. State what make you thinks you did so successfully.

Did you use the Contacts folder itself to update the contact?

Brian:

I deleted the email address from the TO: line of an email, then opened the
contacts folder and deleted the contact. Then, quite some time later, I tried
to renter the contact with the new info.......... thanks

Then as I suspected you failed to remove the entry from your autocompletion
cache. Deleting the address from the To: line only removes the address from
the message. To remove the entry from the autocompletion cache, you use your
arrow key to select it from the dropdown then hit your Delete key. Once the
address is in the To: line, it's too late to remove it from the cache.
