Cannot find button to edit in preview

Confused

I cannot edit my work in preview. I had a button which I could click to
change the magnifier and then edit. It is now "missing" and I can't find it.


Help says when the magnifier turns to an I-beam I can change - this does not
happen

If this is in Word 2007, I believe there was some discussion of removing the
option of editing in Print Preview.
