cannot find directory error message

I tried to change the autosave location path in Excel
2002, but mistyped it. Instead of being able to go back
in and edit the path, I receive a "cannot find directory"
message and I cannot click on any tab in the Options
dialog box. Any suggestions?

If you remember what you mistyped, maybe you could just create that folder?

If not, do you feel comfortable playing in the registry?

Under:
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\10.0\excel\options
there's an option for "AutoRecoverPath"

Mine shows nothing.

But under tools|options|save, it shows:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\

Maybe you could just wipe out the value under that entry--not the entry itself.

Make a folder with the required (wrong) name.

Thanks! That worked. My original problem was that when I
changed the location, I left out the "\", so I could not
create the folder because no valid path was recognized.
