"Cannot find the file <name.mdb> (or one of its components)"

Hello:

We have an Access 2000 sp1 application and all of a sudden, I started
getting this error on startup (and startup is VERY SLOOOOW):

"Cannot find the file <name.mdb> (or one of its components) Make sure the
path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available".

After dismissing this dialog and waiting more, app finally comes up and runs
normally. No compilation errors. Can someone please help? I have already
compared all references with pre-modifications, nearly-same app and they are
the same, yet that app comes up quickly and does not display this error.

thanks for any help you can offer in advance.

regards,
Harvey

If the file is on a network drive, copy it to your PC and see how it runs
there. If it runs faster, it's possibly a network issue.

Also try disabling your virus checker just for testing. A virus program
update could be slowing things down. You should be able to modify the virus
checker to not scan .mb* or .mb? files on startup.

Is the database split between a FE and BE? If not, or the question doesn't
make any sense, it might be time to put a backend with all the tables on the
network and the forms, reports, etc., in a front end database file on each
user's computer.

novell drive which runs fine. Its something I must have done (I added access
