Cannot find ZF561407.CAB

I recently tried to install an update at the Microsoft
site. I am using Office Basic Edition 2003. The update
downloaded and then asked for the CD. I got an error
message that it could not find ZF561407.CAB and the
update aborted. I read on the site to download the
fullfile versions which would not ask for the CD.
However, when doing it this way it did ask for the CD and
I received the same error message. I have tried "Setup"
on the original OEM disk and attempted to "Repair" and
received the same message. I also tried to reinstall
with the same message. I'm afraid to uninstall first as
it looks like I would not be able to reinstall.
Everything in the office suite is working, I just can't
update. Any ideas?????

Hi, Dave,

This file should be located on the root of the Office 2003 CD. Have you
checked the contents of your CD to see if the file is there?

Did you recently do a system restore?

Yes, I checked the root and every folder on the CD and
this file is not there. No, I have not done a system
restore.

Could it be that the manufacturer uses a different CD to
install MS-Office than the OEM disk they supply with the
computer? I do see this cabinet file listed in the
registry.

It's VERY possible. Contact your OEM and ask for their support. They are
responsible for supporting the copies they install.
