Cannot get Enterprise Global to load

B

Becky Tipton

Hi all -
I am using Project Server 2007 and have configured the Enterprise Global
Template as administrator. However, when others connect to PWA, the
Enterprise Global Template is not loading for them, they are not seeing the
template I've configured.

Any help or advice?

When you say that you updated the Enterprise Global Template, do you mean
you

1) Logged onto a server environment via Project Pro
2) Performed a Tools>Enterprise Options>Open Enterprise Global
3) Made some modifications to views, filters, tables, groupings
4) Saved and check-ed the Enterprise Global back in?

What changes did you make to the enterprise global that your users are not
seeing the next time they log into Project Professional and connect to the
same server environment?

I did exactly the steps that you described. There were several changes but
two that are specific are that I changed the Schedule tab to have the default
task type as being Fixed Work and to show the Project Summary Task.

Then, each time either I or another user (who has rights to open a new
project while connected) attempts to log in, the template they create new
projects from does not reflect the changes made in the Enterprise Global.

They are clearly connected to the server and as far as i can tell, they have
the correct permissions (they have rights to :eek:g On to Project Server from
Project Professional in Global permissions).

I think that those settings are not affected by Enterprise Global. MS
Project Experts has published a method to force the Project Summary
Task to stay checked, but it's a registry edit that would have to be
pushed in most corporate environments. You can find it at:

Hope this helps,

Becky:

The settings that appear in the tabs in the Options dialog are not saved in
the Enterprise Global. If you want to push these settings out to users,
apply them to a base Enterprise Project Template and then direct your users
to create new projects from your new Enterprise Project Template.

As Gary stated, almost all the options in the Options screen are project
specific settings or user profile specific settings. The only option that
is stored in the Enterprise Global is the currency symbol I believe.

If you are already directing your users to create projects from a project
template then you are most of the way there. Just open the template and
make the changes on the Options screen there and save the template back.
All projects created from that template will have the same options settings.
