Cannot get imported Quicktime Movie to use"play selection only" formatting

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

When I import my quicktime movie into powerpoint, the movie plays the entire film instead of the section that I have formatted for "play selection only."
