Cannot import Exel files

I have no option under External Data, Import for Excel files.
I reinstalled both Access and Excel and manually checked to install all of
the features from my Office XP 2003.
I was using a blank database, and could not get the option for Excel files
or even Text files.
Please help. Thanks

Re-register the msexcl40.dll (Excel)

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.
