cannot import vCalendar file

Ok...just so you know, I'm not a computer wizard...and am quite intimidated
by sticking my neck out in this forum...

My problem: In an email sent to me, when I click on the "save to outlook
calendar" (or words to that effect), Outlook won't save it. I get a message
that reads "cannot import vCalendar file. Could not complete the operation.
One or more parameter values are not valid." That is the exact message on
the screen. There is no error message number.

I use Windows XP, IBM compatable (not MAC), Outlook 2000, and my internet
provider (if that makes any difference) is my local cable company. I called
Time Warner Cable and they said it was an Outlook issue.

I hope I've given enough information...if you need more, let me know.

Based on the information from the sender, do you think this file has multiple calendar entries in it? (You can also check by saving to your hard drive and opening in Notepad.)

I'm not sure what that means, but it isn't just happening in a single email.
Every email received from this sender (and I get a lot from this sender)
results in the previously mentioned error message. Now when I go to another
computer, Outlook adds to the schedule as it should...just doesn't work on
my computer.

Is the other computer running the same version of Outlook? On the computer having the problems, have you run Help | Detect and Repair?

Well, the other computer is running Outlook 2002.

But, you mentioned running Help/Detect and repair...is that while I'm in
Outlook that I do this?

It is very late here, so I'm going to bed and will check again in the

Yes, Help is the menu on the far right. Detect and Repair is an important command on that menu.

It's also possible that the file you're getting just isn't compatible with Outlook 2000. Ask the sender to turn off any reminder on any appointment they want to send you.

The reminder issue is much, much more important. Outlook 2000 can't handle vCal items with reminders in them.
