cannot insert jpg into Word document

Hi all,

I have a logo in jpg format, which I am trying to insert into Word
documents. I cannot use Insert-Picture-From File as all I see is the
outline of a box where the image should be but no picture. The name
(small.jpg) appears as text along the bottom.

I have checked Tools-Options-View and both Picture Placeholders and
Draft Options are unchecked.

Has anybody got any ideas?
