cannot insert text box

When I try to insert a text box in microsoft word 2003 it does not insert
and I get an error message to send to Microsoft. The answer is always the
same, download updates. I have removed and reinstalled the program and have
downloaded all the updates. Can anyone out there help?

Yup, I think I know what your problem is, when you go to insert a text box you get a funny panel appearing up on the page instead.
I found that you need to click on Tools>Options, and in there on one of the tabs is an option to Create Drawing Area or something
like that, make sure the checkbox is empty and click Ok, then that wee panel won't appear again. Sorry this is so vague, but I
have gone back to using Word 2002 for the hassle that 2003 was giving me and that problem with the drawing area appearing is not
included.
