Cannot Install Office 2000 SR-1a

Hello,

I seem to be having a problem installing Office 2000 SR-1a from
Microsoft. As usual, they seem to make everything so complicated.
Yesterday, I had to reinstall my entire OS and and am now trying to reinstall
Office 2000. I keep getting the following error:

What OS and update version and what does the "See the log file: Office 2000
SR-1 Setup(0004).txt" say?

Do you have SR1 (SP1) installed . You need that installed before SR1a will install

I just reviewed the previous month's posts and found a similar post to mine
from 7-15-09.
Your final response on how to fix the problem worked for me also. The first
suggestion on downloading the SR-1 fix from the following web site is the key
solution:

Further in this article it says:
Point your Web browser to the following address:

That page has moved and gives the following one instead:

Choose "Office 2000 Resource Kit downloads" and then, about 3/4 way down the
list of options, choose:
Office 2000 SR-1 administrator updates - updated May 12, 2000
Choose the following file for download: O2ksr1adl.exe
That is the file that really works for an update for SR-1.
Follow the instructions from the first page and store the files on
c:\FullSr1 when prompted for an expansion location. Start with the Setup.exe
program in that folder and you are golden! The update works perfectly!
I then immediately completed Office SP3 update as well.

Peter, thanks very much for your help, but when I try to download
O2ksr1adl.exe, it tried to save an html doc instead of the exe. Any thoughts?

I have no idea what and from where you downloaded. Recheck that link if it is not
the documentation for the exe file that you are downloading

I double checked the link, and it is indeed trying to load an html document
(which says page cannot be found BTW), but the link for Data1.exe works just
fine.

That was the first thing I tried. That small file downloaded OK, but after
running it it looked like it started to install (I think it was getting the
download from MS), it errored out, giving me a message "Microsoft Office 2000
Sr-1 Update did not complete successfully. For assistance, contact Microsoft
Technical Support: See the log file: Office 2000 SR-1 Setup(0001).txt. After
looking at the log, it looks like two (or three) files had an invalid size,
which judging by what has been written i other threads about this type of
issue, means that I need SR-1. Which I believe that I need to find
O2ksr1adl.exe, but that particular file doesn't appear to be available
anymore, at least not from the link you posted earlier.

That is what I have been posting and telling all with the same issue is that you
need SR 1 installed before SR 1a will install .
Install SR 1 and then try the SR 1a

Yes, but to install SR 1 I need to download O2ksr1adl.exe, right? I've tried
via the link you showed us to install SR 1, but it appears that the link is
now dead.

Phantasm,
SR-1a does install without SR1 first being installed - trouble is getting
the full install file. You are finding same problem I found - the small
installer file starts but quits with error msg you listed. And the link on
the Office downloads page to the o2ksr1adl.exe link DOES NOT work.

After some google searching, I finally found it on this FTP mirror site.

Some of the downloads are for other language versions. The one that worked
for me (appeared to be US version) was the first one.

I've been meaning to post back to this thread but I forgot about it until I
cleaned out my inbox. Luckily, I found the file on a MS TechNet CD I had
laying around the office. Thanks for the reply.

languages, but I need this update in Portuguese of Brazil, you happen
to know please tell me a link I could find in the O2ksr1adl.exe PT-BR
to download?

Can somebody post me the exact link to the French SR1-A download, as none of
the above or other searches were working...
I've been struggling with this for over 2 weeks now, and need the update
asap...

Thanks for pointing me out, or for letting me know if somebody could hand me
a copy of the file through ftp or so...

The link works ok.
BUT:
that's the 133kB installer/downloader program... which doesn't download the
actual update because it doesn't exist (any more)...
