Cannot Install office 2007

For some reason everytime I try to install office 2007 using a cd, it gets
nearly all the way through, but just before finishing (roughly a few tick
marks away) my computer shuts off.
At first it asked, me to upgrade or customize because I have office 2003. I
clicked upgrade and it begin installing and then shutdown before finishing.
The next time I tried to install it, it now offered to install or customize.
At this point, however, my office 2003 was corrupted and would not work. So
I have tried a couple times now to install it and the computer keeps shutting
off.

I have a IBM t42 machine.

Hi, John,

Try to either repair or uninstall Office 2003, then do the Office 2007
installation.
