I have my system set for Automatic Updates and it is coming up with an update
to XP Service Pack 3, however when I try to install it goes through the
process and prompts me to enter my Office XP Standard for Students and
Teachers CD which I have done and at the end of the process the pop up window
states that XP Service Pack 3 did not install.
Having browsed the support centre, I tried to manuall install the update
using OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe and during the installation of
the update I received an error message as follows;
Err 1402 Set up cannot open the registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents\IMAIL.
Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or
contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Many thanks.
