Cannot install Project Standard 2007

Hi, I'm getting an error that setup encountered a problem and cannot
continue. Also, I'm not sure it is related but I cannot install office07 sp2
or run office update...both say detection failed due to a corrupt
installation database. I'm running XP SP3, and have Office 2007 pro SP1
installed also.

Any ideas? I'm hitting a wall and the log was no help to me.
Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Get that ambiguous error message and
installation stops right after typing in product key. This is VERY
frustrating. I have tried on my laptop and on my desktop machines. Both
running XP with Office Standard 2007. I just purchased Project Professional
2007 and need to be able to use it today.

As a new product, call the support people who sold you the product, or
whom they refer you to. I *think* but not sure that Microsoft fields
calls like this. Look in the paper work.

Hello BB,

I've never personally had this issue but a quick google search
turned up a couple of possible answers regarding the corrupt
installation database:

Instructions on manual uninstall:

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
