Cannot install Security Update for Outlook 2000 (KB905646)

I cannot install Security Update for Outlook 2000 (KB905646). I have tried
both methods, using the CD and without. Both fail, but give me no clue as to
what is going wrong.

I get the same failure when trying to install Security Update for Office XP
(KB873352).. both with and without the CD

These were part of a group of 8 patches for Office.. the other 6 patches
installed successfully. Just these two that fail.

I am using MS Office 2000 and Windows XP Home. And before someone replies
that the Office XP update does not apply to me since I am using Office 2000,
I have installed Office XP updates in the past.. maybe because OneNote was
included on my system when I bought it. In any case, if it did not apply to
me, then Office Update should not be telling me to install it, right?
(Still, that does not resolve the other problem of the Outlook update failing)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
