Cannot Install the SP1 Update for Office2000

D

Dave

I am trying to load the SP1 update for Office 2000. I
contacted MS and they sent me the SP1/SP2 CD. I tried to
update to SP2, but was prompted to first update to SP1. I
first tried doing it online before receiving the CD. The
results where the same either way.

When I try to load the program from the CD SR1 Standard
folder, I get trough the install process to where it
is "gathering required information." It then prompts: "The
feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other
removable disk that is not available. Insert
the 'Microsoft Office 2000 Professional' disk and click
OK." In the dropdown "Use feature from:" it
reads "Microsoft Office 2000 Professional." I insert the
disk and click OK. Another warning pop up window
reads: "The path 'Microsoft Office 2000 Professional'
cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this
location and try again, or try to find the installation
package 'data1.msi' in a folder from which you can install
the product Microsoft Office 2000 Professional." So I
click "Browse" and find the "DATA1.MSI" file on the CD and
select it and click OK. Another warning window pops up
and reads: "The file 'E:\DATA1.MSI' is not a valid
installation package for the product Microsoft Office 2000
Professional. Try to find the installation
package 'data1.msi' in a folder from which you can install
Microsoft Office Professional."

After this, I tried copying data1.msi from the
MSOfficePro2000 CD to a folder on my hard drive and
pointing the install to that location...same results.

From there, I tried uninstalling MS Office and
reinstalling it and attempted to install the SP1 update
again...same results.

I cannot think of anything else to do. I cannot update
any other SP's or fixes from MS until I update SP1.

Please help me.

Below is the .txt file the install package created as a
result of the failed installation, after prompting me to
contact Mircrosoft:
