Cannot launch Office 2008 after updates. :-(

Jonny

Installed 2008 and updated to 12.1.4 (on Mac OS 10.5.5 and a G5 PowerMac)

Before the update - no problems.

Ater the update, and regardless which of the Office programs I'm trying
to launch,: I first get this window with "Customer Experience
Improvem, ent Program" asking me to participate, which I'm denying.
Next window is the Microsoft AutoUpdate, which I have tried both closing
and clicking "Check for updates".

That's what's happeing. No way any app will launch.

I have rebooted and tested all common fixes but still no go.....

Can someone please help?

Did you install directly from the DVD then update, or were you running
Office then updated to 12.1.4?

What is happening with the MAU?

Do you get an error message when you try launching applications?

Have you tried to launch in a new User? Go to System Preferences --> Create
a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast
User Switching. Test Office there.

The Office 2008 MAU is now hidden away. Find these files and tell me what
version you have installed?

AutoUpdater: (latest version should be 2.2.0)
/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

Microsoft Component Plugin (latest version should be 12.1.4)
/Applications/Microsoft Office
2008/Office/MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework

Despite having used Office 2008 for months now, once the updates were
installed the system keeps going to the "Office Set Up Assistant"
Any other suggestions out there??
