cannot load buildingblock.dotx

When I start Word 2007, I get a message stating "Cannot load
C:\...buildingblocks.dotx"

I have verified that the file exists. When I tried to load it manually using
the Manage Templates window, I got the same message.

The usual cure for this is to delete buildingblocks.dotx and let Word
restore it. The only time I had the problem you're encountering was when I
installed the RTM version of Office 2007, since the version of
buildingblocks.dotx created during beta testing was not compatible with the
released version.

Is this what's happened in your case? Or, has a previously-working (with
RTM) version of buildingblocks.dotx suddenly gone off?

Thank you, that did the trick. I wasn't sure at first how to let Word restore
it, but when I opened the Building Blocks Organizer, then double-clicked on
one of the entries, then closed both windows, that must have recreated the
file.

Yes, I did have the RTM version installed previously, so that must be the
culprit.

Thanks, this has been bugging me for quite some time!
