Cannot manage to get the electronic fax to come up when loading windows
XP Pro and others
I am using the merge feature of Office 97 to faxout large numbers of
personalised (merged) faxes. It uses the fax system of Windows XP home
edition. The tab under Mail Merge/ Merge to INCLUDES the option
"electronic fax". It works very well. I use outlook 98. (Winfax 8 is
also installed and I cannot de-install it. I am not using winfax
features at all, but I am not sure if it has helped with the fax system
or not.)
However, the path I took to getting this to work is so abscure I cannot
set the same up on another PC. I have been trying to set up the same
using windows XP pro, outlook 98 and Word 97. everything seems the
same and I can fax using the fax software, but in word, the merge
feature does not offer the "electronic fax" option. This seems to be
the only bit missing.
Can you help me with this please. I am not keen to try later versions
of word or outlook if I can avoid it. First because it works
fantastically on my PC and second because of the expense. We need to
set up several similar PC's.
I have also sought other fax software, but nothing works as well as the
Word 97, outlook 98 and XP home I am using for fax merging. I am
afraid to change anything as I may loose the capability and not be able
to reproduce it.
