Cannot navigate or copy Word 2007 documents with my mouse....

I

IowaVAIOuser

When I open a Word 2007 document I can select features from the menus with my
mouse, but Word will not allow me to jump to different sections of my
document using my mouse. I cannot scroll through the document nor
highlight/copy sections using my mouse. I must use the keyboard to navigate
my way through the document. A general scan by Microsoft showed no
detectable errors. I do not have this experience with any of the other
Microsoft programs, like Works Word Processor. This program came on my Vaio
and I don't know if I can reinstall somehow since I don't have a physical
copy. Any suggestions?

When I go to shut down the program I get a message saying "Microsoft Word
has stopped working, after a minute of trying to find a solution to the
problem it will either send me a message informing me that the program
stopped working and was shut down or that it restarts the program. I have a
suspicion that this quirk is connected to the other problem but I can't make
heads or tails of it. Any advice would be appreciated.

You have corrupted your Word Data key in the registry. The usual reason is
by leaving Word running whilst updates are installed.

Run Regedit and navigate to the Word Data Key and whilst DATA is selected,
press Delete. Word will create a new key when it is next started.

Word Data Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word
