Cannot open a word file

I opened a word file. It displayed "This document may be corrupt. To preserve
the contents: Choose Select All from the Edit menu, then choose Copy from the
Edit menu. Create a new document, then choose Paste from the Edit menu". I
followed that instruction and the word pragram closed automatically and it
showed winword.exe ocurred errors.

I also referred one document which is related to this problem.

Then I tried to do that, but it was getting worse. I could not open this
file and it showed winword.exe ocurred errors and word program closed
automatically.

My OS is Windows 2000 Professional & SP4
Word program is Word 2000 & SP3
