Cannot open attached files or links

If I try to open attached files (other than pdf-files) or links included i
e-mails Outlook freezes and I have to close it.
I use Outlook 2002 SP3 and Windows XP.
Does anybody have a solution?

What anti-virus software are you using? If you temporarily disable it does
the problem go away?
