Cannot Open by Double-Click

I removed Office 2004 Test Drive from my new Mac (OS X 10.4.3),
installed Office v.X, upgraded Office to 10.1.6, and then re-started.
Now I cannot open Word or Excel documents by double-clicking on the
icon. Instead I get the message "The operation could not be completed.
An unexpected error occurred (error code -10660)". What to do?

Hello -

1- Did you use the Remove app to fully remove the Test Drive, or did you
just trash the folder?

2- Did you run Disk Utility Repair Disk Permissions after the install?

Thanks, CyberTaz. I did run the Remove app. But it removed only
Permissions and not the folders from the Applications folder. (Tried
it a second time, same results.) So I dragged those to Trash. What
cleared everything up for me was emptying the Trash.

Yes, I had run Repair Disk Permissions, but that didn't make any
difference.
