Cannot open connection to Analysis server

Jesse

I am getting an error when trying to connect to the
Analysis Server (in order to migrate the Analysis Services
Repository).
The complete error is
"Cannot open connection to Analysis server 'servername'.
Cannot connect to the server 'servername'. The server is
either not started or too busy."
I have verified that the server is started (from
enterprise manager). I have tried several options for
starting SQL (Windows acct, SQL account), made sure that
account is in the OLAP Administrators group.
I've also searched Project help, SQL help, knowledge base,
user groups, etc.
I am following the steps in Gary Chefetz' book, which is a
fantastic book, but SQL was installed before I started.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks much,
Jesse

PS, Gary, I'm on page 76 of your book (Implementing
Enterprise Portfolio Management with Microsoft Project
Server 2002)

Jesse:

Are you certain that Analysis Services is installed? Most installations of
SQL I run across at client sites don't have Analysis Services installed. If
you can verify that Analysis services is, indeed, installed and has had
service pack 3 applied, then I'd look at the credentials you're using when
logging on to the SQL server.

Whew, I get nervous when I think I missed something (makes
me wonder what else I missed), but I did follow these
steps and got version 8.00.760 for SQL Server and 8.0.760
for Analysis Services, indicating SP3 but there's no
indication of Eval that I can see.
