cannot open deleted items file

Help please.......error message reads:

Folder could not be displayed
Outlook Express could not open this folder.
Possible causes are:
Low disk space.
Low memory.

Is there any way to access this file without having to delete the entire
file? I have messages in it that I don't want to lose. I can't open it,
move it or copy it anywhere! I am running Outlook Express 6.0. Thanks!!!
