Cannot open document with track changes

When I open a document with track changes, each time I try
to make a change in it Word displays the following message:
"The document is very complex. Please save it now"

Any idea?

Sounds like the document is corrupt.

First, make a copy now while you can still open the document. Then see
whether you can create an editable version using one or more methods from
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/CorruptDoc.htm.
