Cannot open docx file in Word 2007

Hi all,

I received few docx files as e-mail attachments and could not open them even
though I have Office 2007. I saved them on the hard disk, and then used the
recovery option, but it did not help. I also downloaded Microsoft converter
tool, but still no use. I then used an online convertor tool, it converted
the files into doc and only then I could open them. Anybody has an idea what
might be the problem? Please help! Thanks!!

Is there an error message when you try to open the files? If so, what is the
exact wording?

How were the .docx files created? By Word 2007... or by some other program?
If the latter, which one?

What is the source (url?) of the online converter tool you're using?
