cannot open Excel files from Outlook

K

Kristen

When any e-mail is received in Outlook 2000 with an Excel
attachment I am unable to open the attachment by double
clicking on it.
When I double click on the attachment, the Excel program
opens, but the file does not. A message box from
Microsoft Outlook shows a warning "The system cannot find
the file specified."

How do I correct this problem?

Thank you.

This worked for me-

Go to Tools, Options, General and make sure that Ignore
other applications is not checked.

There was another post for this same problem a day or so
ago that had another solution if this doesn't work.

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

On the Windows Taskbar
Close Excel
Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
