Cannot open file from disk

When I tried to open one of my excel files from my floppy
disk, I received this error message:

filename cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or
you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the
server the document is stored on may not be responding.

The file is not a read-only file, and I don't know if I am
trying to access a read-only locations. I have Microsoft
Excel 2000. I cannot figure out how to fix it and it is a
very important file for me. Does anyone have any
suggestions??
