I have installed an Access database in a client organisation. The database is
in a 'frontend' - 'backend' configuration and is installed on two machines.
These machines are linked on a peer to peer network. Both machines have their
own frontends and point to a single backend on one of the units. The system
has worked in the passed, but recently they have changed to a wireless
network and the motherboard of the machine holding the backend has been
changed. Now when the second machine tries to access the datafile, I get the
following message
The Microsoft Jet Database engine cannot open the file 'path to file'. It is
already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view
its data.
I have tried all the obvious things such as checking permissions and making
sure the file is in shared mode. The database works fine on the machine with
the datafile. The data file is visible on the second machine through a mapped
connection.
Any thoughts?
