Cannot open files from within Office 2003

I am running Office 2003 in Windows XP Pro with service
pack 2. When I use Word, I get an error stating Word has
encountered an error and must shut down. The error codes
are as follows:

AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 11.0.5604.0 ModName:
mso.dll ModVer: 11.0.5606.0 ModStamp: 3f334cce
IDebug: 0 Offset: 001befb5

I get this error while running any user account without
administrative priviledges. I don't get the error while
running an account that has admin priviledges. I have
also noticed my machine running much slower, but don't
know if this problem is related. I've tried some of the
fixes I've found on this board, including
renaming/recreating mso.dll and normal.dot, but the
problem remains. Any help with this problem is
appreciated. My only other option (I don't want to,
though) is to save my data and do a clean install of
Windows and start over.

Yes, I did have the SP1 patch installed, but the same
thing happened. However, I found the problem. This
problem was caused by a security permission issue.
Appearantly, Office had installed some needed operation
files on a logical drive that I had set to deny secondary
users (users without adminitrator rights). When that user
would run Office, those files were not available because
the user was denied access to that drive. Lesson from
this problem is to watch how you set security permissions.
