Cannot Open Files in Word

Zach

When I try to open a document in Word 2007, regardless of its file extension,
I get an error message saying my antivirus program is not allowing me to open
the file. I tried disabling my antivirus program, as it suggested, and it
came up with the same thing! Please help me!

If it is Norton Anti Virus, you need to disable the Office Plug-in under
advanced options.

Hi Terry,
You had helped me with a problem similar to this about a month ago (Norton
making Word take a LONG time to open, etc).
I'm just now getting around to trying to disable or remove Norton
completely. When I try to do as you suggested (go into Norton and click on
Advanced options), Norton won't let me do anything because it's not
activated. In other words, I don't even see the advanced options. The big
'ol "SYSTEM STATUS: TRIAL PERIOD EXPIRED" comes up when I try to open
Norton.
Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for your help...

Hi Terry. Thanks so much for your help. Could you be a little more specific
about the advanced options in Norton? I'm having a little trouble finding
them. Thanks again.

I don't use NAV so I don't know, but if you check with the MSKB, there is
definitely a FAQ on this problem which gives you a step by step guide to
disabling the plug-in.
