Cannot open Image attachments with Outlook 2000

I have two users that have new XP pro machines. Each is fully patched.
default program associated with Jpegs is Windows Picture and Fax viewer
and images can be opened if they are saved to the hard-drive or a
network location.

However, if you try to open the image from Outlook. The picture and fax
viewer launches and says "No preview available". Also a pop-up message
on the e-mail messge window opens saying "system cannot find the file
specified"

Any advice?

Try clearing the Outlook Secure Temp Folder. See this:

I didn't think that would be possible. Just to make sure of the version of
Outlook you're using, click Help>About and post what it says.

so could do with updating... but really weird...

Happy New Year...

The key is present on my user account on the machine but the same
problem is also present...

I've enabled auditing on the secure temp folder and the temporary file
for the image is being created and then deleted but Outlook is still
giving the message so is either creating and discounting or creating
and deleting before it looks for it.

This is more than one user on the same machine... Outlook has been
reinstalled and service packed to SP3

Did you empty the folder, as suggested on the web site I cited?
