Cannot open items in WordMail

B

Bernard Watkins

Am using Office/Outlook 2000. My OS is Windows XP. This just started
where I get this error statement:

Can't open this item. Microsoft WordMail could not be started. Try one of
the following:
Close any open dialog boxes in Word.
Make susre Word is installed correctly.
Close other programs and try again.
A dialog box maybe open in another program preventing Outlook from
preforming this operation. Switch to that program and close any open dialog
boxes.

There is nothing else open at the time. I can read one email. If I try to
read another, I
get the error message. If I activate Word, then close it, I get the error
message that
Word encountered a problem and will have to be closed down. When Word
closes,
I can read another email in Outlook and the problem starts all over again.

If I quit Word from the task manager box or restart my computer, I can open
an email
and read it in Word because the computer reloads it. If I try to open
another or try to write an email I get the message and the problem again.
I've tried reinstalling
Office but the problem still persists. I've never had this problem before
and am stumped.
Is there a setting or switch that I am not aware of? Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Bernard
